It is probably the only news that can in some small way soften the disappointment for Leeds fans of failing to reach the Premier League this season, and that is reports from Football Insider, which claim Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has told Whites owner Andrea Radrizzani and director of football Victor Orta, that he wants to stay at Elland Road for a second season.

Bielsa has been in talks with Orta over the last few days discussing transfer targets and improvements to the Thorp Arch training facilities, but it is the news on his future that will be music to the ears of the Elland Road faithful.

So how will Leeds fans be feeling with a decision on Bielsa's future on the horizon?

We discuss........

Ben Lang

“I don’t think there should be too much concern.

“I’m confident Bielsa will stay on for another season at Leeds, as he admitted he was open to the possibility of it.

“The Leeds hierarchy will know how important Bielsa is to the club going forward, and it seems beneficial for both parties that Bielsa extends his stay.”

Gary Hutchinson

“If they’re worried, it’s only because the media have made them worried.

“Why would he leave?

“If he did, which I don’t for one second think he will, he’d be letting them all down.

“There’s no point in worrying about it though, it either happens or it doesn’t.

“Sooner they’re told one way or another, the better.”

George Brooks

"Bielsa has already started making plans for next season, so this suggests that he is happy to remain at the club for at least another year - although I'm sure Leeds fans won't be totally relaxed until the news is confirmed.

"It was a major disappointment for Leeds to miss out on promotion this season, but it would potentially be an even bigger blow if Bielsa was to depart Elland Road in the summer.

"If he stays, then Leeds fans have every reason to be confident of their side's chances of promotion next season."

Alfie Burns

“There will be a hint of worry that the outcome isn’t the one they want, but on the whole, it does seem like Bielsa wants to stay, which has kept the mood afloat after the play-off defeat.

“However, there is still plenty of nerves amongst fans about what this summer holds, with Leeds in a position where they have to carry on moving forward, recruiting well and building on a positive 12 months.

“Signing Bielsa up is just the start of that.”
