West Bromwich Albion winger Grady Diangana has made a strong start to life at The Hawthorns after sealing his loan move from West Ham United on deadline day back in August.

The 21-year-old has scored three goals in five appearances since making his debut against Millwall on August 17th, and he was on the scoresheet over the weekend as he scored during the Baggies' 3-2 success over Blackburn.

The England Under-20 international has been vital to ensuring West Brom's unbeaten start to the Championship season, and Baggies fans will surely be excited to see how he develops over the course of the season.

However, it is possible that Diangana's early season brilliance could come at a cost for West Brom as West Ham are able to recall the attacking midfielder in January if they see fit, according to Birmingham Live.

This is always the risk with loan signings as West Brom know all too well following the Harvey Barnes situation last season, which saw Leicester recall the talented midfielder after his strong first half of the campaign.

It would be a huge blow if the Baggies were to find themselves in the same situation come January, and there is no reason why West Ham would not activate this option if Diangana continues the rich vein form in which he has started the season.

If Diangana continues to become a vital cog in Slaven Bilic's system this season, then a possible recall midway through the season would leave West Brom having to fill a large void in the January transfer window.

It could prove difficult to unearth another player of Diangana's quality in the next transfer window, so the existence of this recall clause could have damaging repercussions for the Baggies heading into the second half of the season.

However, this is of course all hypothetical at this stage. West Brom have every right to enjoy Diangana's talent for the time being, as he is clearly capable of excelling in the Championship and could be a player who leads the Baggies' promotion push this term.

This potential issue is just something that Bilic and West Brom's more senior chiefs should bear in mind, as they will need to have a plan B prepared for January in the event of Diangana's return to West Ham.

The Hammers are currently looking relatively light in attack with Sebastien Haller and Albian Ajeti as the only recognised forwards following Javier Hernandez's departure, so they may be looking to boost their attacking unit come January.

It looks like West Brom will just have to hold out hope that this plan doesn't involve Diangana's early return to the London Stadium.
