Norwich City have endured a underwhelming start to the campaign under Daniel Farke's reign, despite high optimism upon the German's appointment earlier this summer.

A measly four points from five outings sees the Canaries looming in the relegation zone, although it is still relatively early into the year, it does show signs of concern for the Championship outfit.

Incidentally, the team's lack of encouraging performances has been due to their astonishingly poor defence that's seen Farke's squad leak twelve goals this season already - the most in the division.

It is seemingly clear that the manager is desperately attempting to rediscover the early potential this side once had, by reinforcing his back line and adding reported target Grant Hanley to the ranks before deadline day.

The 25-year-old has become surplus to requirements at Newcastle United in the top-flight, despite only penning a deal on Tyneside twelve months ago, and it appears Norwich City are the front runners to capture his signature.

Not only did the Scotland international have a respectable track record at Blackburn Rovers prior to his move to the north-east, but his credentials in the famous black and white stripes is what has seen him become an established Championship centre-half.

Daniel Farke needs a commanding defender who knows the division like the back of his own hand, which is why it makes perfect sense for the Canaries to swoop for his services before the summer window slams shut.
