As Hibernian manager Neil Lennon pointed out when discussing his midfielder, John McGinn, prices in English football, particularly in the Premier League and Championship, are quickly rising.

He was quick to rule out a sale for McGinn, who has interested the likes of Ipswich Town, by slapping a £4-5m price tag on his head, but given the state of the transfer market, a number of teams in the Championship have the financial power to sign the 22-year-old.

Celtic are also interested in the player, with manager Brendan Rodgers viewing McGinn as the long-term successor to current captain Scott Brown.

Lennon said in the interview: "It's going to take a huge bid from any club to take John away from us, £4-5 million."

"He's still got a bit to do but he is a quality player. He's a Scottish international."

"We sit on the border of England where people like Britt Assombalonga are going for £15 million from Nottingham Forest to Middlesbrough without playing in the top league."

It is the fact that McGinn is an senior international that will interest clubs, with the fact he is only 22 showing that he has major potential if managed correctly over the coming years.

He has already made 65 appearances for Hibernian since joining in 2015, establishing himself as a key member of the side at Easter Road.

He will be afforded the opportunity to prove himself in the Scottish Premiership this season, but Championship clubs with the funds should definitely be looking at signing the Scot during the current transfer window given his already impressive performances for Hibs and his high potential.
