Cardiff City are hunting for a new manager following Neil Warnock's resignation after Sunday's 1-0 defeat in the Severnside derby to Bristol City.

Plenty of names have been banded about by the press early on as the Bluebirds are rumoured to be searching a quick appointment with the international break now in full swing, but one manager who Cardiff should turn their attentions to is Newport County manager Michael Flynn.

39-year-old Flynn seems happy and content with his job at Rodney Parade so far, having taken over in 2017 and led the great escape for Newport as well as guiding them to the play-offs last season.

Having already got 150 games in football management and not turning 40 until next October, Flynn wouldn't be a bad choice for Cardiff to be considering as their next manager.

The young manager has a persona about him that makes him likeable and easy to get along with, the players always appear to play for him and are determined to impress him every time that they pull the shirt on when stepping out onto the pitch.

Flynn has a good career record within management so far having won 61 games out of his 150 and lost 48 as he has become one of the more likeable managers in Newport's history.

There is every chance that Flynn may not be interested in the Cardiff vacancy as he is currently building something fairly special at Rodney Parade as promotion to the third tier of English football could be on the horizon.

Newport wouldn't be particularly happy if Flynn did decide to jump ship for their neighbours just down the road, however, Flynn is an ambitious manager who wants to manage at the highest level possible.

Still young in terms of management, Cardiff couldn't go far wrong if they were going to chase Flynn and attempt to bring him to The Cardiff City Stadium. Bringing Flynn in would allow the Bluebirds to build a project that he could be a part of over a number of seasons in an attempt to restore Cardiff to the Premier League.

Despite Flynn not being as experienced as some other managers that may be in the frame for the Cardiff job, he would certainly bring a strong character and has a good enough CV to be in the hot-seat.

Cardiff fans may not be keen on Flynn potentially becoming their manager, however with other strong options available, the Bluebirds could do that slightly bit better and hire somebody with Championship experience.
