Che Adams is being pursued by both Burnley and Southampton at the moment, with Birmingham City looking increasingly likely to lose their exciting young striker.

The 22-year-old is having his most prolific season in front of goal yet, with 14 from 30 outings so far. Last season he bagged nine in 33 and he's only reached double figures once, as a teenager with Sheffield United in League One.

When he swapped Bramall Lane for St Andrew's it cost the Blues in the region of £2m. That was two years ago and now suitors will have to pay more, but how much more?

We think that Adams value has to be set around the £15m mark. Reports have suggested he's already been the subject of £8m bids, but that is almost derogatory in today' market of inflated values.

When considering a transfer fee there's many factors to consider. Age is important and at 22, if Adams is as good as those wanting him hope then he's only going to get better. This isn't just a transfer to benefit their club, but one that could end up bringing them a huge profit. When you consider that, £8m doesn't sound much when top strikers in the Premier League change hands routinely for £40m.

As well as age, there's the means of the buyer. Clubs routinely spend £10m plus on players in the Premier League and think nothing of it. Burnley were willing to spend £16m on Jay Rodriguez in the summer, a 29-year-old with little resale value and an average goals to game ratio. If that was the value of the West Brom man, Adams has to be worth at least the same.

There's also the player himself. Adams is developing quickly and showing a keen eye for goal, but also clever movement off the ball. Being a good striker isn't all about putting the ball away, it's about the work you do without it. The former Ilkeston man is improving all of the time and is a real handful for Championship defenders.

That's why we feel he has to be valued a £15m, just as a starting point. It would be a financial lifeline for the Blues considering the summer they've had and just reward for giving him the opportunity to shine.
