Stoke have continued where they left off last season but for everyone connected to the club that is the last thing they wanted.

Like last season, Stoke have, at times, had a lack of organisation in defence, been too predictable in attack, and there have been costly individual errors in each of the matches they have played.

They are winless from their three Championship games but victory against Wigan in the Carabao Cup followed by a 2-2 draw with Derby could signal that they are turning a corner, although it might take more to convince their fans of such.

Prior to the season kicking off they were tipped by some as frontrunners for promotion after bringing in 10 additional players, and getting rid some of their underperforming players, such as Charlie Adam.

Despite that, they sit bottom of the Championship having conceded the joint highest amount of goals, even though they have an England international between the sticks.

Patience is likely running out for Potters fans, with dwindling attendances and the response to the Derby draw evidence that not all is well with the club, and until results start picking up it is unlikely optimism will return soon.

Pressure is growing on Nathan Jones to turn around the team's fortunes, and after Huddersfield dispatched with Jan Siewert some Stoke fans may be hoping their club follows suit if the team doesn't start winning.

That could be difficult too with tough fixtures against Preston and Leeds coming up, so the prospect of starting with no wins from five is both a realistic and daunting prospect for fans.

However, there were signs of improvement last Saturday. The front two of Lee Gregory and Scott Hogan linked up well and the latter helped himself to two goals, which shows that if he stays fit he could get back to kind of form he showed at Brentford.

Although the upcoming games are difficult, they will also provide the team with an opportunity to make a statement and show the fans they have turned the corner and are in a position to challenge this season.

Teams often start slow before picking up - as Aston Villa were evidence of that last season - and if Jones gets time and receives the backing of the fans then Stoke should start to build confidence and pick up winning results.

They have assembled an experienced Championship squad and once they get that first win they should be able to build and challenge the top positions.
