Dominic Ball is being tipped to captain Queens Park Rangers next season.

Ball, 24, joined QPR in the summer after being released by Rotherham. He'd made 31 appearances in the Scottish Premier League last season on-loan at Aberdeen, resurrecting his career after some previously tough spells.

But the Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate is coming into his own in West London. Ball has slowly but surely worked his way into the team and since the turn of the year has been one of the first names on Mark Warburton's team-sheet.

He's putting in a case to be QPR's singing of the season, and some fans believe that he could well be captain material:

Warburton stripped Toni Leistner of the captaincy in the summer and gave it to Grant Hall. Leistner has since left for Bundesliga outfit FC Koln on-loan and looks set for a summer exit, whilst Hall is out-of-contract in the summer, and there's been no news of an extension thus far.

That leaves the armband seemingly up for grabs come the summer time, and Ball looks the likeliest to claim it. He's every aspect of a top-quality captain for QPR - he's bang in the middle of the park, close to everyone, and gives his all every single time.

Ball has all the traits of a rounded midfielder as well, but the defensive side of his game is what's made his such a presence in the QPR first-team.

Alongside Luke Amos in-front of the defence, the pair have played a lot of football together and Ball in particularly has shown great levels of improvement.

Passion is another part of Ball's game that fans love. Every tackle and every 50/50 is given his all but playing in that dogged midfield role, his work can sometimes go unnoticed. R's fans though have taken note of his performances of late, and love what they're seeing.

It makes sense for the Hertfordshire-born Ball to be made captain - he's still relatively young and is an avid organiser and commander on the pitch.

He's one that leads by example as well, always throwing himself into tackles for the greater good, and he'd be someone that the younger players can look up to and strive to become.

Anything could happen between now and the start of the next season though. QPR still have a captain and a vice-captain in-place and neither is Ball, and he could yet be snatched up in the summer if his form continues.

'Captain Ball' does have a ring to it though.
