Sheffield Wednesday made it three wins from four in the week as they beat Luton Town by a single goal at Hillsborough.

The man who made the difference once again was Kadeem Harris, with the winger scoring the only goal of the game to make it two in four for him since he arrived from Cardiff on a free transfer in the summer.

It was somewhat surprising to see Neil Warnock let the 26-year-old go after they were relegated to the Championship as he has proven himself to be a useful player at this level in the past.

But, the Bluebirds' loss has certainly been Wednesday's gain.

For much of last season the Yorkshire side lacked someone with pace and drive in the final third and it often made them predictable to defend against and bringing in someone with real speed had to be a priority.

Therefore, that's what Steve Bruce targeted, with Rolando Aarons adding a lot to the XI when he came in January and Harris has taken that up a level in the opening four games of the campaign.

His pace and power gives the team a different threat. They are now capable of counter-attacking teams quickly, which can be a useful tactic in tougher games, particularly away from home.

As well as that, he can be the man to provide a spark against a low-block defence with his ability to get past a player.

He also seems the perfect fit for this Owls side. The likes of Barry Bannan and Adam Reach, who are technically capable and can feed him the ball early, will also benefit from the space the winger creates as he stretches the opposition.

Additionally, Steven Fletcher will relish playing with someone like Harris who looks to get to the byline and provide quality service.

The issue with the new recruit in the past has been maintaining such form on a consistent basis but it has to be said that he didn't always get the chances he perhaps deserved with the Welsh club.

And, like many wide men, he can appear to be a confidence player.

So, getting off to such a good start could do the world of good for former Wycombe man and he should already feel as though he is a key player at his new club.

Even though it is early days, signing Harris on a free transfer seems to be one of the smartest bits of business in the Championship and the wide man will have a crucial role to play as they look to build on this excellent start to the season.
