It’s safe to say that Rotherham United have struggled to adapt to life in the Championship.

They currently occupy the final spot of the three relegation places in the second tier with eight games left to go.

But their plight to survive in the league could be aided with the potential points deduction from Birmingham City.

Garry Monk’s men are currently 13th in the table, on 50 points – and could be on 38 should they receive the 12-point penalty that could be handed to them from a three-man panel.

And the Millers fans could think this could be their saving grace to aid their escape from the bottom three.

If the points come off this season, which there are no guarantees, it could leave them two places and two points ahead of them.

The crux is, the Millers still need to play the Blues – at the New York Stadium in a potentially massive game for both clubs.

And the Rotherham supporters will be praying the panel make a swift decision and deduct the points this season in order to another team to the mix.

Millwall, Reading and Wigan are still in danger of being relegated themselves, but the more, the merrier – and another team in the mix means they have a better chance of survival than if Birmingham are not to be dragged into the fight.

There is still a lot of football to play, and anything can happen – but they will be pretty optimistic that their plight could be aided should the Blues be docked the maximum amount of points.
