QPR talisman Charlie Austin was subject of transfer speculation all summer, with the forward being linked with several Premier League clubs.

Austin needs to move to the Premier League

It looked like an inevitability that he would be departing Loftus Road instead of trying to help the R's to return back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

However with only a couple of official bids falling short of QPR's £15 million price-tag, Austin did not get a move to the Premier League.

January poses another opportunity for Premier League clubs to splash the cash on the striker who scored 18 Premier League goals last season.

With a massive increase in TV revenue being handed to Premier League clubs, more risks may be taken in order to survive the drop, which could lead to Austin leaving. Here is why Austin needs to make the move...

  1. Euro 2016 selection

Austin has already had a call up to Roy Hodgson's squad however he has not yet featured for the Three Lions. The likes of Vardy and even Harry Kane suggests that hitting form in the Premier League can lead to featuring and gives the possibility of going to Euro 2016. On the other hand, if Austin stays with QPR, it looks a given that he will not be off to France next summer.

2. Interest could fade

With such a high price tag attached to his name, Austin could suffer from his clubs demand. Premier League clubs are likely to have cheaper alternatives abroad meaning the clubs end interest in Austin swiftly and go for a cheaper option. If QPR stay resolute with their demands, he is likely to still be at Loftus Road, come the end of January.

3. Chances of QPR returning

Charlie Austin could very well be in the Premier League next season with QPR but it's a risky bet. The Championship is always going to be competitive meaning no team is likely to pull away at the top. Despite it still only being in October, QPR have had no consistency and have leaked goals for fun meaning Austin could still be in the Championship next summer.

4. Austin deserves his chance again

Austin has served QPR incredibly well since his move from Burnley. He has scored lots of goals at both Championship and Premier League level. While some of his teammates at QPR didn't seem concerned about the clubs relegation, Austin has given everything for the club and not made a fuss about staying. With so many players who haven't been anything special in the Championship still earning moves to the Premier League, Austin surely deserves to be there on merit.
