Nakhi Wells joined Queens Park Rangers on loan late in the summer transfer window.

The striker joined the club from Burnley in the summer after a frustrating season that saw him make just a handful of appearances, most of which were off the substitutes bench.

However, his arrival was greeted in positive fashion after he turned up at Loftus Road.

He was a typical case of what the R’s needed, a player who could boast that he had been there, and done that. Wells had won promotion from the Championship before, and despite QPR’s targets not really being promotion, this was a statement of intent from Steve McClaren’s side.

Prior to his signing, QPR had failed to win in four games, and were awful, on the back of a 7-1 thrashing at the hands of West Brom.

Wells, along with the loan signing of Tomer Hemed and Geoff Cameron, brought much-needed experience to the side.

Despite all this, Nakhi Wells has scored just one goal for the club since his arrival.

Of course, the counter argument to this is the fact that Wells contributes a lot more than goals.

The R’s adopt a formation that sees Wells and Hemed play together at the point of it, with the two complementing each other’s style well.

QPR’s form has been that of mid-table mediocrity since September, somewhat turning it around since the dreadful start, but nothing to write home about.

McClaren’s side are 18th in the table – they tend to beat teams around them, but struggle against the traditional ‘bigger’ sides.

If QPR are to start winning more games and moving away from relegation anxiety, the former Bradford man must start scoring more goals.

He has been great in the creative aspect of attack, but has struggled in the goal department, and if he puts this right, Rangers may start to surge up the table.
