Nottingham Forest could be handed a significant boost ahead of the Championship resuming next week.

Lewis Grabban is set to return for Martin O’Neill’s side for the first time since the middle of February after overcoming a third Achilles problem of the campaign.

The Nottingham Post is reporting the 31-year-old is pain-free and raring to go ahead of the final eight games of the regular season.

O’Neill’s side are 11th in the table and outside the top-six by only three points.

And Grabban’s timely return could see him return against Swansea a week on Saturday, despite not featuring in a behind-closed-doors game earlier this week.

The news of the 16-goal striker’s return will feel Forest fans with anticipation that he can be the Messiah at the City Ground to get the goals to lead them to the promised land that is the Championship play-offs.

There will be some trepidation from the Reds’ supporters as to how fit the forward is, and they will be worried the same problem could befall him for a fourth time having it already hampered his progress on the pitch as of late.

But that should be a thought cast to the back of the mind in order not to sour the joy of their top-scorers imminent comeback.

As with football fans – and Forest are no different – they will feel that Grabban being available for selection gives them an edge over other play-off rivals during the run-in.

It will be sure to give the fans a boost, as well as the players and manager – and that could be conducive to a winning atmosphere at the club.

Forest’s fans will be praying this is the catalyst to their season ending on a high.
