Millwall are proving the doubters wrong so far this season and their fans will be delighted with the start they have made to the season.

They are unbeaten in the Championship with three games played and also knocked West Brom out of the Carabao Cup at The Hawthorns, and Neil Harris can be very proud of the performances of his players.

It was a difficult summer for Millwall in losing their two main strikers but Harris has acted shrewdly once again and The Lions look an improved side - with new signing Matt Smith grabbing most of the headlines so far.

The Den faithful would have been impressed by their results from their opening two fixtures, but the weekend victory over high-flying Sheffield Wednesday - who have received many plaudits for their displays - indicates that Millwall could perform above expectations this season.

They typically look strong in defence, with the only league goal conceded coming from a set-piece, whilst they have been organised and effective going forward, although they have yet to score more than a single goal in any of their Championship matches.

Mahlon Romeo's continued impressive performances will be pleasing to those at the club. He kept Kadeem Harris quiet for large spells which no defender had managed prior to Saturday, and despite going down to ten men Millwall defended superbly, although their three shots in comparison to Wednesday's 21 suggests they had the rub of the green.

Nevertheless, the unbeaten run is sure to build confidence and even with one of their better players suspended in Jed Wallace, they will be confident about their chances in the next few matches.

They face difficult away trips to Fulham and Middlesbrough, which could bring them back down to earth, but if they manage to remain unbeaten they will fancy their chances against any opponent and could begin to adjust their expectations for the season - currently, the likely aim is to simply avoid relegation after finishing 21st last season.

Millwall will be relishing the prospect of upsetting Fulham on their own patch, too, and often play their best when their backs are to the wall and they have to rely on the organisation and ability of their defence.

They will bring a big and vocal support, with fans knowing a win has the potential to lift them to the top of the table and perhaps improve on their eighth-place finish in 2018.

If they can work on the training ground to add different dimensions to their attack then they should score more goals, and if they can achieve that without harming the defence, they will be on course for a very good season.
