Central midfielder Joe Morrell has been out on loan with Lincoln City since August, making 11 league appearances for the Imps so far in central midfield.

Morrell has also come into favour with Ryan Giggs for his national side, Morrell having received his second cap last night as a substitute and put in a dependable performance in the heart of the Wales midfield as he kept things ticking over.

Morrell has been one of Lincoln's standout performers so far this campaign, first under former manager Danny Cowley who has moved to Huddersfield Town and new manager Michael Appleton, taking over after the departure of the Cowley brothers from Sincil Bank.

The 22-year-old midfielder has helped to add some bite, creativity and put in some tenacious performances as he looks to forge a way back into Lee Johnson's plans over at Ashton Gate after making just the four appearances for the EFL Championship side last season.

Bristol City fans have taken a particular interest in how their youth academy product has done while out on loan, after seemingly developing late following such early promise in Bristol before 2016 and then his development through the ranks seemingly slowing down.

Morrell is a central midfielder who's capable of doing a bit of everything, his tenacity and bite in midfield seeing him be able to win the ball back from the opposition but is also capable of finding a pass and drifting past opposition midfielders while on the ball to try and get his side forward.

Bristol City fans will be feeling that Morrell is developing well a league below with constant League One football as he fights for a place at Bristol City to show he's got what it takes in the Football League. City fans were calling for the Welsh international to get a look-in with City this season after his impressive cameo displays during last season, and the majority of Robins fans were slightly disappointed when the midfielder headed out to a league below, however having seen Bristol City's midfield performances this season Morrell is just one player who can come back and add something to Lee Johnson's side.
