Why Leeds should be confident of returning to league form against Ipswich

Published

The Championship is back this weekend and there’s a big game at Elland Road as two sides that have started well go head-to-head.

Indeed, with Leeds United top of the league and having knocked out Burnley in the Carabao Cup and Ipswich also looking like potential contenders for promotion, we should be in for a top game.

And, with Leeds losing to Millwall in the league last time out, there’s going to be an urgency from Thomas Christiansen’s men to prove that they can easily bounce back.

For sure, then, Mick McCarthy’s men need to be ready but it looks as though the stats are against them ahead of kick-off on Saturday afternoon.

Indeed, as per transfermarkt, Ipswich have only won once at Elland Road since 2005 – with that game coming in 2015 and ending as a 1-0 win.

That, though, is not a good record to be having going to a stadium such as Elland Road that is going to be buoyant thanks to the form of Leeds right now.

Ipswich will really have to be at it, then, and it remains to be seen if they can handle a Leeds crowd eager to see their side back to winning ways in the league.
