Leeds United could be set for a very busy January as Marcelo Bielsa looks to add to his squad to help the team sustain a promotion push.

The winter window is always crucial for those in contention and it's about bringing in quality that can give you that little bit extra towards the end of a campaign.

And, one man the Whites should be targeting is Burnley keeper Tom Heaton.

On-loan stopper Jamal Blackman suffered an awful broken leg in the U23s yesterday and that means there is little cover behind number one Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

However, the Northern Irishman was under serious pressure after his very poor display in the 4-1 defeat at West Brom last time out.

That was the latest error the youngster has made this season, and whilst we can't overlook his positive contributions, it has to be a concern.

Peacock-Farrell is a young player, so you have to accept that his form will dip at times.

But, Leeds need a consistent, reliable performer if they are to make it back to the Premier League - and that's exactly what Heaton provides.

The England international is way down the pecking order at Turf Moor, with Joe Hart first-choice and Nick Pope set to return too.

Therefore, he will be desperate to play regularly and the challenge that Leeds will offer have to appeal to the player. He knows the Championship well, is a leader off the pitch and has won promotion before.

Some may feel it's harsh on Peacock-Farrell but Blackman's injury means Bielsa needs a new keeper and bringing in the 32-year-old would be the sort of January signing that can inspire a side to promotion.
