Derby County are set for an active summer.

Plenty of new arrivals can be expected, as well as numerous first team player exits as Gary Rowett attempts to put his personal stamp on this squad in his first transfer window in charge.

The Rams have failed to live up to expectations in the past several seasons, falling short of their target of promotion on a number of occasions.

This season has been another disappointment and Rowett was the third manager that Derby used after Nigel Pearson and Steve McClaren failed to inspire them to success.

Fans will be hoping that Rowett can bring in the right players and help them achieve promotion back to the Premier League after a long hiatus in the lower leagues.

Derby will be targeting a mixture of players in the summer.

Some will be brought in with a view to immediately improving the squad while others will be signed with a view to the future.

One player for the future that they should look at is Oladapo Afolayan.

The Solihull Moors striker has struck four goals in ten starts in the National League and looks promising.

A number of clubs, including Derby, are reportedly interested in the 19-year-old, who is one of the hottest properties in non-league football.

The former Canada and Toronto striker is currently studying at Loughborough University alongside his football and a move to Derby - which is fairly local - makes sense as he completes his studies.

Derby will need to move quickly to land Afolayan before others are alerted to his potential.
