Why Ipswich Town must consider signing this Premier League man on loan

Ipswich Town finished a disappointing season with a characteristically disappointing result.

Their 3-0 loss against Nottingham Forest was an indication of how poor this season has been.

However, the Tractor Boys did finish safely with relative ease and they will be looking to push on next season.

Reinforcements are needed all over the pitch.

Ipswich need a top goal scorer to fire them up the league table, as well as some creative midfielders, experienced midfielders and defensive cover.

With Christophe Berra leaving, Ipswich will have a real void at the back.

While Mick McCarthy will look to replace Berra with an experienced defender, he should also consider a Premier League starlet.

Declan Rice is likely to be available on loan next season as he is on the brink of breaking into the West Ham United first team picture.

The 18-year-old has been named on the bench several times this season and he might be handed his debut now that the Hammers have confirmed their safety.

The Republic of Ireland youth international is an extremely confident ball-playing centre half who is tough to beat in the air or on the ground.

After excelling at youth level, Declan Rice was named Young Hammer of the Year this season and is regarded as one of the top youngsters in West Ham’s famed academy.

The talented teenager is bound to be playing Premier League football in a couple of years but a spell in the Championship would do him the world of good.

Rice would benefit from a spell at Ipswich to learn from the likes of Luke Chambers and Steven Taylor while Ipswich could benefit from having a talented defender in their ranks.
