Pre-season can be a rather boring time for fans as matches are dominated by wholesale half-time changes and rusty legs.
But every now and then it throws up a brilliant story. One that somehow manages to capture the imaginations of the entire footballing world.
And on Thursday night, we came as close as we are probably going to come to that happening this summer as John Coleman’s Accrington Stanley stunned Marseille, led by former Chelsea and Tottenham boss Andre Villas Boas.

Sean McConville gave the League One side the lead after just 28 minutes when a defensive mix-up allowed the fan-favourite to head home the opener.
And it was 2-0 before half-time when McConville was brought down in the penalty area ten minutes before the break, allowing Offrande Zanzala to double the advantage from the spot.
Former Newcastle United winger Florian Thauvin pulled one back in the second half, but it was not to be for the French giants.
And after seeing off the likes of Luis Gustavo and Dimitri Payet on their own turf, the Accrington faithful, and plenty of other fans, were buzzing…
This is why football is so great!
