Ex-Leeds United chairman Massimo Cellino has been linked with Charlton Athletic.

A report in The Sun newspaper today (pg. 59) claims that Cellino - current chairman of Serie A side Brescia - is interested in a return to English football, and that Charlton could be his next move.

The Italian was as controversial an owner as any. He acquired full control of Leeds in 2016 and would oversee the sacking of six managers in his three years at the club.

Charlton are no strangers to controversy either - after the long-awaited leave of former owner Roland Duchatelet, fans were expecting a fresh start under Matt Southall and Tahnoon Nimer of East Street Investments.

But after a sour back-and-forth between the two emerged, Southall was dismissed from his post, and now fans are wondering whether Nimer will come good or not.
