Leeds United left it late to do their business in January but managed to negotiate deadline day loan deals for Alfonso Pedraza and Modou Barrow.

Pedraza arrived from Villarreal and Barrow came from Swansea City to join Pablo Hernandez on the list of Leeds' January signings.

Leeds also managed to keep their key players at the club; the only outgoing transfers were the loan exits of Jack McKay, Luke Murphy and Toumani Diagouraga, as well as letting fringe player Alex Mowatt join Barnsley on a permanent deal.

But should Monk have trimmed his squad even more?

He has plenty of faith in his first team options but their fringe players have not stepped up this season.

A number of peripheral players failed to stake a first team claim in the FA Cup loss to non-league Sutton United, for example.

With that in mind, here are 2 players that Leeds should have sold in January.

Ross Turnbull

Ross Turnbull is arguably Leeds United's fourth choice goalkeeper.

Rob Green is Monk's top pick between the sticks and Turnbull finds himself behind Marco Silvestri and maybe even Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

With that much depth for just one position, why did Leeds not get rid of Turnbull this month?

Lee Erwin

Lee Erwin is currently on loan at Oldham Athletic but Leeds should have sanctioned his permanent sale.

The 22-year-old is unlikely to ever be at the level which Monk is looking for in his forwards.

The Scottish striker is a decent enough player at League One or League Two level so Leeds should have allowed him to complete a permanent switch there.
