Derby County have struggled to make the Premier League since relegation just under a decade ago, and many players have been seen to come and go as there would be at any club.

The Rams, similar to most teams around the country and continent, often make mistakes and sometimes that can be selling first-teamers who have gone on to do better things away from Pride Park.

Many players might be on their way out this summer as well, but that's the future and Derby are purely focused on the present.

They sit ten points off the Championship play-offs and lie 10th in the table, well short of their expected levels or what supporters wanted at the start of the season.

But with Gary Rowett at the helm now, things are looking up.

However, Rowett - and the fans - will not be impressed that the club sold a few stars in the past.

Here are two players who have thrived at their new club since deciding to depart Derby County...

Jeff Hendrick

Jeff Hendrick left the second tier outfit last summer having joined Premier League side Burnley for big money fee after impressing in the division below.

The 24-year-old midfielder did well enough at the Rams to be one of the first names on the team sheet but perhaps became limited at Derby and decided he needed a new beginning and more challenges, hence the move to Turf Moor.

Hendrick was a fans' favourite at Pride Park prior to leaving and some supporters were upset by this sale.

The Republic of Ireland international has really thrived in the top flight.

Lee Grant

The goalkeeper played second fiddle to Scott Carson at the club and that made him frustrated at the lack of opportunities being given to him at Derby County.

Lee Grant initially transferred to Stoke City back in August on a six month loan deal following the injury to first choice Jack Butland, and his displays for the Potters meant his stay in the top flight became permanent in January.

Now aged 34, Grant has made 23 league appearances for Stoke and has been a huge success despite not even making the cut at Derby a division below.

The Rams probably regret selling the veteran 'keeper.
