Reading FC goalkeeper Vito Mannone suffered a disappointing day between the sticks as his side fell to a superior Wolverhampton Wanderers outfit at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday, with Nuno Santo’s men running out 2-0 winners.

The Royals were outclassed on the pitch by their opponents, with Jaap Stam’s outfit condemned to yet another defeat in the second tier.

The result put the visitors top of the table, but leaves Reading languishing in nineteenth place, a far-cry from their playoff final appearance last season.

Italian shot-stopper Mannone took to Twitter to express his frustration with the result, but surprisingly, it was fans of former club Sunderland who responded in their droves, begging the former Arsenal goalkeeper to return to the club.

The Black Cats are in disarray, and two howlers from keeper Robbin Ruiter saw the managerless side - due to be taken over by Chris Coleman imminently - drop points at home to Millwall in a 2-2 draw.

Based on the fans responses, it is clear that Mannone is desperately needed back on Wearside…
