Sheffield Wednesday's deal for Cardiff City's Callum Paterson is reportedly taking longer than first thought with more work still to be done, which has drawn a frustrated response from many fans of the Yorkshire club.

Reports over the weekend indicated that the two Championship clubs had agreed a deal in the region of £500,000 and that Paterson would join the Owls on Monday.

But no confirmation has come from either club, with Yorkshire Live's Dom Howson revealing yesterday that there was still work to be done on the deal.

It is understood that the move remains likely but it is taking longer than Wednesday had been hoping for.

The Scotsman is a versatile player but looks to be joining the Owls as further reinforcement in their forward line and to replenish some of the physicality lost by the exits of Steven Fletcher and Atdhe Nuhiu.

The arrivals of Josh Windass and Elias Kachunga have bolstered Monk's options up top but that still looks a problem area for Wednesday.

Can you name these 10 ex-Bristol City midfielders?

The addition of Paterson is hardly an ambitious one but it is certainly needed and this latest update has drawn a frustrated response from Owls supporters on Twitter.
