Bristol City have emerged as front runners to sign Bristol Rovers striker Matty Taylor, reports the Bristol Post.

Odds on Taylor making the switch from Rovers to City were slashed last night, sending shockwaves across both sets of fans.

Taylor scored 28-goals to help secure Bristol Rovers’ promotion from Sky Bet League Two last season and has continued his form this campaign scoring 19 times.

Darrell Clarke’s side currently sit eighth in the League One table, just three-points outside the play-offs, and the sale of their top scorer could derail their season.

Neighbours, City, are on the lookout for a fullback and a winger on deadline-day, but manager Lee Johnson refused to rule anything else out.

Johnson’s side are fighting for survival in the Sky Bet Championship, sitting in 21st place, and are without a win since December 3rd.

With the potential transfer of Taylor looming, here is how both sets of fans reacted on Twitter…
