Stoke City have finally strung a couple of results together to start making their first tentative steps up the Championship table after a torrid start to the season.
Indeed, they will hope to continue the trend when they travel to Carrow Road to face fifth-placed Norwich City at the weekend.
For Potters manager Gary Rowett the decision is quite simple, to stick with a side that got three points last time out or look to make changes that could include recalling defender Ryan Shawcross to the starting eleven.
But does Rowett need to recall Shawcross for the weekend?
No – why change a winning team?
Stoke’s Gary Rowett had been too loyal to players who were not performing, now he has to make the decision to switch it up and move players around, it looks to have worked somewhat.
They are unbeaten in two games having come back from two goals down to draw with Rotherham before a home win in midweek.
Changing a winning team would be silly when you are trying to get your team to find form.
He’s come in for criticism of late but he is still a good defender.
However, sometimes it is best that players come out for a bit and Ashley Williams and Bruno Martins Indi certainly stepped up in his absence.
Stoke earned a good win last time out and Shawcross will have to be patient.
Yes, Shawcross is struggling but he’s not a bad player.
I’m not sure the problem is the XI that is starting the game, but the man charged with motivating them, setting them up and getting them winning.
For me, Rowett is the issue.
Ashley Williams has been a noticeable liability every time he has played for Stoke this season and Shawcross is surely a better option.
