Cardiff fans should feel mightily pleased with their season in the Championship, completely staving off any fears of relegation under the influence of Neil Warnock.

Warnock arrived at a time where the Bluebirds sat second bottom in the Championship, with Paul Trollope leaving his post as manager after a dismal start to the season.

Warnock appears to have the magic formula when it comes to great escapes.

Having pulled Rotherham out of the relegation mire, he quickly proceeded to do the same with Cardiff, who, after an extremely strong run of results following his immediate arrival, managed to finish 12th in the table.

The former Crystal Palace manager is now making ramifications to mount a challenge for a record eighth promotion and has already brought in Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Neil Ethridge, Callum Paterson and Lee Camp in preparation.

All of the Cardiff moves in the transfer window have been free transfers thus far, bar Callum Paterson.

They should make it four with the free signing of Sebastian Larsson.

This would be a statement of real intent by the club as Larsson will be sought after by a number of high profile clubs this summer, including from overseas.

He is an extremely capable midfielder at this level and could be able to fill the void left by Peter Whittingham, who will join Blackburn Rovers next season.

Larsson can play across the midfield allowing Warnock plenty of options, but usually operates down the middle.

He has a vicious strike on him and is a fine play maker at Championship level.

A move to Cardiff could be the boost Larsson needs in his career at this point, after fading into obscurity whilst at Sunderland.

In Wales, he will be a top player at the club, which may give him the confidence boost needed to reignite his career.
