Bristol City are currently flying in the EFL Championship, sat in fourth place and only having lost to Leeds United on the opening day of the campaign.

One of Bristol City's attacking aces, Kasey Palmer, has started six of the seven league games so far, and has proved pivotal in an attacking role tucked in behind the strikers as City look for promotion to the Premier League.

Palmer joined Lee Johnson's squad on a permanent deal from Chelsea this summer after a five-month loan spell from January last season before returning to Stamford Bridge, and Palmer has been showing to the Ashton Gate faithful why he will be one of their main assets moving forward.

Palmer has found himself as the attacking midfielder in Lee Johnson's usual 3-5-2 formation, playing off two of Famara Diedhiou, Andreas Weimann and Benik Afobe. The reason why Palmer is so effective in the Robins' lineup is simple: his ability.

Palmer's ability to drive past defenders and midfielders like they aren't even there is mesmerising, and his final product as he enters the final third is forever improving as the 22 year-old sets about making a name for himself in Bristol. As well as being technically gifted with the ball at his feet, Palmer isn't scared to put his head on the line, often ghosting into the box and using his physicality to get on the end of crosses from wide areas.

Palmer's work ethic as well doesn't go un-noticed, often pressing the opposition's defensive midfielders and stop them from turning to play a pass into more threatening areas, instead forcing them to go backwards and prevent any immediate danger for his Robins team-mates.

The Verdict

Palmer is only going to get better every time he pulls on a Bristol City shirt, and is definitely a player to keep an eye on over the coming season as he starts to make a name for himself properly and enters his prime years.

Definitely one of Bristol City's prime assets, Palmer could be the key to Bristol City's push for promotion as he'll be the one who more often than not will lay on chances for his team-mates and can chip in with goals when required to push City further up the table and cementing their place in the Playoffs as the season goes on.

One thing's for sure, though: keep an ear out for the name Kasey Palmer.
