Bristol City will need to regain the consistency that they had shown earlier in the season if they are to secure a play-off finish.

The Robins have endured a very difficult spell since losing to Wolves on December 30 with many observers putting that down to the distraction of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Lee Johnson’s men ran Manchester City very close and played some great football but ultimately lost over the two legs.

Now, the focus is entirely on the Championship and City have gone from top two hopefuls to looking nervously over their shoulder at the pack chasing the play-offs.

However, Bristol City fans should remain quietly confident there side will finish in the top six because of the depth they have in attack.

Johnson made some shrewd signings in the window, with Lois Diony a very capable player at this level. The former St. Etienne man brings pace, power and movement to the side along with goals.

Elsewhere, Famara Diedhiou is slowly getting back to his full fitness and his aerial prowess gives the Robins a great option if they want to go more direct.

Then, of course, there’s Bobby Reid who has been a revelation since moving into a central attacking role and has the ability to link the play with the midfield.

Those three provide a real quality attacking threat and there are even useful options behind that should injuries and suspensions hit again.

Additionally, the signing of Ryan Kent will also transform how City can attack. The on-loan Liverpool man has frightening pace, great dribbling ability and will weigh in with goals and assists.

It may not click immediately as new players can take time to settle but Johnson has built a squad that should be able to fire its way into the play-offs.
