Brighton’s first team currently sit at the top of the Championship, but this is not purely down to big money signings, young players have been making their mark on the south coast.

Brighton and Hove Albion have superb facilities

Brighton and Hove Albion have superb facilities

In fact, there are a number of reasons as to why Brighton is a good place for youth footballers to be

Firstly, the facilities are world class. The training ground has received European praise, and the under-21 side get the opportunity throughout the season to play in the 30,000 seat AMEX Stadium.

Training at Brighton would be a great opportunity for any young player, with the opportunity for schooling as well with Brighton’s development programme.

Secondly, Brighton’s youth teams play at a high level.  The under-21 squad plays in the Barclays U21 Premier League Two, against the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal.

At a younger age the under-18’s can test themselves against the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the Barclays under 18 Premier League South.

These quality opponents would give young players an excellent platform to build their skills, and to evaluate themselves against some of the best young players in the country.

Finally, there is an opportunity to play in the first team. In the past few years Brighton have developed players such as Lewis Dunk, and England under-21 stars Jake Forster-Caskey and Solly March, and these players have found themselves as starters in the Championship.

James Tilley, 17,  has also been around the squad and made his first appearance for the Seagulls against Middlesbrough last season.

Young players around the country will be getting scouted throughout the year, and they will join numerous different development programs around the country.

If the offer comes in from Brighton, any young player should jump at the opportunity to join one of the best set ups in Europe.
