Brentford might be in the most ideal position to make one of those ‘under-the-radar' type play-off promotion challenges.

The side haven’t landed a place in the Championship play-off's since their debut season in the division in 2015. Since then, they have finished 9th, 10th, 9th and 11th but now may finally be the time for the Bees to make their Premier League promotion push.

It is not the most likely thing to happen in a very talented division with the likes of Fulham, Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town returning back to the Championship, but Brentford are a young talented team filled with players that will have only improved from their previous season.

Rico Henry, Josh Dasilva, Ezri Konsa, Sergi Canos and Ollie Watkins are all very gifted players who are aged 23 or under. On the final day, the average age of the Brentford team was the divisions lowest in which they beat Preston North End 3-0.

Of course, it would be hard to mention young talented Brentford players without referencing Neal Maupay whose future with the club is still uncertain.

Either way though, Brentford stand in good stead; they either get to keep Maupay who may very well get them another 25+ goals next season or they'll receive a healthy sum of money to bolster their squad in all other departments.

The side have are quite renowned for their incredible business with a limited budget too -  with signings like Jota, Scott Hogan and Andre Gray for a combined total of just over £2.5 million.

Who knows what they can do with the £15+ million they may receive for Maupay.

Brentford will also have the pleasure of a full pre-season and summer of training with Thomas Frank. The Danish manager worked with a team built by not him but Dean Smith since replacing him in October.

The manager will finally have the time to get players that will suit his intricate style of play and get them training and playing the way he wants them to from the very beginning.

It looks as though this process has already begun as Brentford made their first key signing of the new season in the form of fellow Danish midfielder, Christian Norgaard.

This isn’t expected to be Frank’s only major signing this Summer as he looks to prepare for a play-off push.
