Aston Villa have just confirmed that they will be appealing Henri Lansbury's red card which he received in Villa's 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough at Villa Park last night.

The former Nottingham Forest midfielder was sent off for slide tackling Boro's Marvin Johnson from behind, and the Midlands side are to appeal the red card on the grounds of wrongful dismissal.

Villa are currently languishing in 18th spot after an abysmal start to their Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Pressure is undoubtedly growing on manager Steve Bruce, with the Villans struggling to maintain any sort of consistency or form.

Lansbury has not enjoyed the best of times at Villa Park since arriving from Forest, and has drifted in and out of the starting eleven.

Though, looking at the reaction from the Villa faithful with regards to this club announcement, it's clear that they don't want the midfielder back in-to the first-team fold any time soon.
