The Sky Bet Championship season has come to an end and Barnsley finished in a respectable mid-table position.

This is a decent achievement considering that it was their first year back in the Championship.

The other two promoted teams - Wigan and Burton Albion - both battled relegation all season with Wigan eventually failing to secure their survival.

Barnsley ended up in 14th place, despite losing key players such as striker Sam Winnall, captain Conor Hourihane and defenders Alfie Mawson and James Bree over the course of the season.

Under the guidance of fine young manager Paul Heckingbottom, the Tykes will be aiming to kick on next year.

In order to do so, they will need a successful summer of business and they will need to bulk up their depleted squad.

One area they will need to strengthen is the striker region with Adam Armstrong's loan spell coming to an end.

Barnsley should look at signing Danny Graham.

Blackburn Rovers were relegated from the Premier League despite Graham's best efforts - the 31-year-old netted 12 league goals and added 4 assists for Rovers this season.

If the former Swansea and Sunderland forward had been fit all season, they might well have survived.

At a reasonably impressive rate of just under a goal every two games at Blackburn, Graham would surely thrive with better service at Barnsley.

He might not be an all-out goal scorer but Graham would provide a solid, experienced option up front in a position which Barnsley desperately need to strengthen in the summer window.
