Aitor Karanka made big changes to the Nottingham Forest squad in the January window, although it's fair to say things haven't really gone to plan since.

The Reds have seriously struggled to score goals and have only scored in five of the Spaniard's 16 matches in charge.

That's not to say the new recruits don't have anything to offer, although many have yet to full convince they could help Forest to promotion next season.

One of those is Jack Colback, who joined on loan from Newcastle United until the end of the season.

As our graphic shows, the former Sunderland man clearly has his qualities, putting in 2.8 tackles per game and boasting a passing accuracy percentage of 90.4% which is very impressive.

However, when on the ball he is mainly looking to keep it simple which is why he has such a high percentage.

Of course, that's not a major problem as it's important to have a player like that in the team. The issue with Forest is that Colback plays alongside Ben Watson who is very similar in that sense.

The pair are very competitive but their lack of ability in finding more progressive passes has been a reason in Forest's struggles in front of goal, with not enough quality coming through midfield.

Whilst Newcastle will be desperate to offload the player who has no future at St. James' Park, Karanka needs to look for a better balance in his midfield for next season, with Colback maybe not the answer.
