With just days until the Sky Bet Championship opens for business once again, pundits and fans alike will sit and debate the final outcome of the new campaign, with many making wild predictions as to how they think the table will look by May 2018.

The emergence of ‘supercomputers’ in recent years has seen complex data analysis systems used to predict the entirety of football seasons, and this year has certainly been no exception.

This year the mystic machine has predicted that Garry Monk’s big spending Middlesbrough side will emerge victorious, bouncing back to the Premier League at the first time of asking following their relegation last season.

Monk’s men have gone big this summer, and the former Lees boss has splashed over £40 million as he looks to guide his team to the top of the pile.

£30 million of this has gone on strikers, with Britt Assombalonga, Martin Braithwaite and Ashley Fletcher linking up with the club, and the firepower accrued by Monk certainly looks like it could be enough to take Boro up.

Moneybags, Wolverhampton Wanderers, are predicted to take the second automatic spot, with Nuno Santo’s men matching Boro all the way with their summer spending.

Santo smashed the Championship transfer record with the signing of Porto wonderkid, Ruben Neves, with the Champions League’s youngest ever captain the marquee signing in the Black Country this offseason.

A number of other top talents have arrived at Molineux, including Diogo Jota and Leo Bonatini, who have linked up with the club on season long loan deals.

The computer predicts that the title rivals with battle it out for the Championship crown this season, and if the machine proves to be correct, we may have the answer to the age old idiom that money does indeed, buy happiness.
