It was a disappointing Wednesday night for Nicholas Ioannou, who was sent off as Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.
A strong challenge on Martin Cranie led to Ioannou being shown a straight red card shortly before half-time, with Luton leading 1-0.
Forest did fight back despite going down to 10-men, though, with Glen Rea heading into the ball into his own net amid strong pressure from Ryan Yates on 64 minutes.
Nottingham Forest quiz: Are these 12 facts about the Reds’ history genuine or not?
It marks a disappointing end to what has been an impressive first few weeks at Forest for Ioannou.
The 24-year-old has established himself as Forest’s first-choice left-back, with the defender showing plenty of attacking presence and putting plenty of impressive deliveries into the area.
Here, we take a look at how Forest fans initially reacted to the news of Ioannou’s arrival…

Great!! At what point do we need to expand the training ground to give all these lads a run around? The canteen and practice pitches will be packed #NoSocialDistancingHere

Just to add, this lad has pace and will provide us more attacking threat down the left.

Some Forest fans clearly had their doubts over this signing. Not only was Ioannou their 12th new arrival of the summer, but he added even more competition to the left full-back position.
The Reds had already brought in Tyler Blackett on a free transfer after his exit from Reading, and Yuri Ribeiro had been seemingly frozen out by the club despite being a key player last term.
Ioannou, though, arrived at the City Ground having captained APOEL Nicosia, and he would bring real leadership and quality to the defensive line.
Last night was disappointing for him, and he will be disappointed at the thought of missing their next three games, but he will be satisfied with his performances thus far.
