Sheffield Wednesday have wished currently injured forward Fernando Forestieri a happy birthday, as he turns 30 today.

The Argentine-born Italian forward has been a key figure at Hillsborough since signing in 2015 but has seen his influence dwindle this season following ongoing injury troubles, coupled with a lengthy suspension.

The Owls forward has featured 123 times for them, scoring 39 times but has struggled this season, playing just nine times and scoring once for Wednesday.

Forestieri was subject to a disciplinary hearing and court meeting following an incident that occurred in the pre-season of the 2018/19 campaign where he was alleged to have racially abused Mansfield Town’s Krystian Pearce, despite being found ‘not guilty’ at Mansfield Magistrates Court. This charge led to a six-game ban for the forward, which he served earlier in this season.

Following his return from the ban, Forestieri suffered a knee injury that is refusing to go away, which has seen him not feature for the Owls since their win over Charlton back at the end of November.

Having not featured since then, it begs the question of when he is going to return to Garry Monk’s side and how much impact he is going to have too.

Many Wednesday fans will not be happy with his current contributions, despite unfortunate circumstances hampering his season, so here, we take a look at how fans have reacted to the club wishing Forestieri a happy birthday today...
