It appear the list of strikers Leeds United are being linked with this January window is getting longer and longer, with Celtic man Leigh Griffiths the latest man touted for a move to the Whites.

Football Insider reported on Tuesday that the Scottish giants could be willing to let the 29-year-old leave for south of the border before the end of this window, but where did it all begin for the Scot?

Griffiths came through Livingston's academy making his debut at the age of 16, being part of fellow breakthrough players Graham Dorrans and Robert Snodgrass.

After scoring 22 goals in 48 games for Livingston, Griffiths had a trial at West Bromwich Albion but chances of to a move to the Baggies end when then-manager Tony Mowbray left the club.

In the summer of 2009 Griffiths would leave Livingston for fellow Scottish Premier League side Dundee, where he scored 21 goals in 47 games, further proving his potential as a consistent goalscorer.

After an 18 month stint at The Dee, Griffiths finally made a move south of the border to Premier League side Wolves, but remarkably would only make one appearance for the club between 2011 and 2013.

During his opening two seasons at Wolves, Griffiths found himself back up in Scotland, enjoying four consecutive half-season loans with Hibernian.

Griffiths turned out 78 times during his time in Leith scoring 38 goals, and was part of the side that made it through to Scottish Cup final in 2013, losing 0-3 to Celtic in the final.

In the first half of the 2013-2014 season, Griffiths finally started to play regularly for Wolves, scoring 13 goals in 31 appearances as Kenny Jackett's side dominated League One, with this form earning the striker a move to Celtic.

After initially having bids rejected for Griffiths, Celtic finally got their man on deadline-day 2014 where he has remained ever since.

Over the course of Over the course of six years, the 29-year-old has turned out over 200 times for Celtic and scored 108 goals in that time, and scored 21 goals across the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons as Celtic made history by winning the first ever back-to-back treble.

Despite consistently good form in the SPL, the 29-year-0ld's national team career hasn't kicked on as much as some would have expected.

Griffiths has 19 senior Scotland caps to his name, scoring just four goals for the Tartan Army.

He will, however, be remember for his two stunning free-kicks in a 2-2 World Cup qualifier with England back in 2017.

Griffiths may not be United fans' number one choice but there is no doubting the 29-year-old is a proven goalscorer who would be a decent shout in helping convert some of the many chances Leeds create.

Leeds need to bring in a goalscorer, and fast, so it will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
