The older brother of Manchester United's Paul Pogba, Florentin, has been training with Charlton Athletic this week, according to reports.

London News Online journalist Richard Cawley stated that the 29-year-old has been at Sparrows Lane with the under-23's, and has also trained with the first team during the last two days.

Pogba is currently a free agent after leaving MLS side Atlanta United after the club decided not to extend his contract.

Andre Green is the only new signing for the Addicks during the January window, and Pogba could be a welcome addition to the squad if his trial period turns out to be successful.

Here is more about the career of the defender that Charlton could snap up in the coming days...

QUIZ: Can you name these 15 ex-Charlton defenders?

He is a versatile central defender

Charlton fans will want to know more about his profile as a player, and we can report that Pogba's preferred position is at centre-half. The 29-year-old comes in at a height of 6'2".

He is known for his physical prowess, which helps him to win aerial duels at the back. Pogba also can play at left-back if needed, which provides another option in defence. However, his attributes are more suited towards a more central role.

As well as using his strength to his advantage, he also likes to venture further forward on occasion with the ball at his feet, bringing forward players into the game.

Pogba has experience of European football

The 29-year-old has played for a total of four clubs during his ten-year professional career - CS Sedan, Saint-Etienne, Genclerbirligi and Atlanta United.

He initially started out at the academy of La Liga side Celta Vigo in 2007, but did not make a senior appearance for the first-team during his two years in Galicia. He then moved on to Sedan, signing for the Ardennes-based side after a successful trial in 2009.

However, it was his spell with Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1 that was the pinnacle of his time as a footballer to date. Pogba helped Les Verts side qualify for the Europa League for three consecutive seasons.

The club twice made the knockout stages of the competition whilst Pogba was there, with a notable second round tie against Manchester United in 2017 seeing him come up against his brother Paul competitively on the football pitch. Saint-Etienne eventually lost 4-0 on aggregate over two legs.

He is a fully fledged international

Pogba was born in the Guinean capital, Conakry, before moving to France with his family at an early age.

He did represent Les Bleus at Under-20 level, but pledged his allegiances to Guinea in 2013 after representing his country in a competitive fixture against Mozambique.

Pogba has since been capped by Syli Nationale a total of 21 times, with his most recent outing for his country coming in 2017.

Pogba also has a twin brother, Mathias, who has also represented Guinea internationally. He once upon a time played for the likes of Wrexham, Crewe Alexandra and Crawley Town.
