In the very near future, Sheffield United look set to be under new ownership after current custodian Prince Abdullah accepted a £90 million offer for the club last month.

A member of the Saudi royal family, Prince Abdullah has been the full owner of the Blades since 2019 having purchased half of the club six years prior, but he has decided that with Paul Heckingbottom's side on the cusp of the Premier League once more, now is the time to sell up.

And the next in-line is set to be Nigerian businessman Dozy Mmobuosi, who was this week revealed to be the mystery buyer that is being assessed by the EFL in regards to being the new owner.

Mmobuosi has already invested an eight-figure sum into the club to pay outstanding transfer instalments, which will in-turn lift the club's transfer embargo, and it will also go towards the running costs as he awaits the green light from the authorities.

Who is Mmobuosi though? Let's take a look.

He is a 43-year-old businessman from Nigeria and is the founder of an IT service management company named Tingo, which claims to be 'transforming rural farming communities by providing connectivity and access to Tingo’s extensive and unique platform, and has sold 30 million devices according to their website.

The Times, in their exclusive article revealing his identity as United's mystery buyer earlier in the week, reported Tingo's value to be that of $7.6 billion and the company's official website claims that they generate over $500 million in annual revenue, although Mmobuosi's actual personal wealth is unknown.

Mmobuosi's own personal website describes himself as a 'distinguished technology entrepreneur and advocate for technological advancement and social upliftment in Africa and beyond', and amongst his academic qualifications are completion of the Advanced Management and Leadership Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, so he has links via that to England.

His bid to purchase United will all come down to whether or not Mmobuosi can prove to the Football League whether or not he has the necessary funds required to run a club of the size and stature of the Blades.

With little known about his actual personal wealth, we will only find out when the EFL make their decision as to whether Mmobuosi is indeed the man to take the club out of Prince Abdullah's hands.
