The Championship is one of the most competitive divisions in the world, and with the prize of reaching the Premier League forever increasing, there is no surprise why the competition is so fierce.
The prize money of reaching the Premier League increases every year, and with the new TV deal for the Premier League coming in next season, Championship clubs are looking to cash in on that chance now and earn promotion.
Only three clubs can get promoted from the Championship, but between those three clubs they will receive over £300 million, which leaves most clubs risking it all to make the step up to the big time.
At this stage of the campaign, Brighton are looking red hot at the moment, as the Seagulls are still unbeaten in the league.
They are currently four points clear of Burnley who are third – after a disappointing season last year, no one would expect that Hughton’s men would be top of the table after 13 games.
Another promotion chasing team is Burnley, after finishing 19th last year, the Clarets are looking to bounce straight back into the top-flight.
Burnley’s story of how they made it to the Premier League was one of a fairytale, however they were unable to maintain a consistent run of form in the top-flight and they got relegated within their first season.
Every year in the Championship there is a dark horse who springs into life towards the end of the season, and for me this year I think its going to be Reading.
They have made a solid start to the season, and they are currently seventh in the table, there is no reason why Steve Clarke cannot lead the Royals to promotion.
