Much has been made of Swansea and Cardiff’s involvement in the Premier League and Championship but this has only come to attention as a result of their rises through the Football League.
Both clubs have had limited success until the end of the 2000’s when both sides were fighting it out for promotion to the Premier League.
The Swans have managed to not only maintain their top flight status since their promotion in 2011 but they have actually become an established side, with wins against Manchester United no longer a surprise.
They also won the League Cup in 2013, their only major trophy to date.
Meanwhile the Bluebirds dropped out of the Premier League after their one and only season in the division and struggled last term to re-adjust to the Championship under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, and his replacement Russell Slade.
However, they were established promotion chasers before their title-winning season in the 2012/13 season and they have an FA Cup and the FA Charity Shield (now the Community Shield) in their trophy cabinet.
