Sam Whittall has expressed his delight at his new start at Cambridge United, after signing on a six-month deal.
The 20-year-old midfielder signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers, a club he has been with since the age of 8, after a succesful trial at the U’s
“It was disappointing to leave Wolves because I was there a long time and I’m a fan of the club, but sometimes you’ve got to think about your career and it was probably for the best,” he said, speaking to Cambridge News.
“I came here for two weeks in pre-season and really enjoyed my time here, so it’s good to come back.
“There’s a good bunch of lads here and I get on well with them all, so I’m happy to have a new start because it’s a great club and I’ve just got to work hard and play well.”
Whittall has been given the number 24 shirt and is available for tomorrow’s League Two clash with Portsmouth.
