Reading have endured a campaign to forget so far this season, with the Royals having failed to secure a victory in their last five games, which included an embarrassing 4-1 humbling at home to Fulham.
It has been a season that promised so much, after manager Jose Gomes brought in several high profile signings in a bid to put the Berkshire based club in playoff contention this season, with the likes of George Puscas, Lucas Joao and Matt Miazga coming in during the summer months.
However, for one reason or another those new additions have failed to make a difference for the former Al-Ahli boss, who was today given his marching orders by the club’s hierarchy after a run of 11 games this season which has only yielded a points return of eight from a possible 33 up for grabs for the Royals.
Naturally, it didn’t take the club’s supporters long to respond to the news, and here we take a look at what they had to say via social media.
Whilst I love this club, I hate it right now. If we hadn’t paid so much compensation to fired managers we may be in a better financial position. Jose thank you for the way you conducted yourself and brought my club back only for it to be snatched away.

If you’ve done this just to employ Mark Hughes you can fold yourself.

I feel for Jose, under all the issues we had, he worked hard. Truly gutted for him.

Tell the squad to put more effort in for the next manager please. This is getting ridiculous @liammoore93

Thanks Jose for connecting the club with the fans once more. Shame the players didn’t match your drive and passion for the club. All the best!
