The Championship title race is proving to be a nail-biter and with just under half of the regular season to go we’ve decided to use the best betting sites nz has to compare the top 6 Championship teams and their odds of moving up to the Premier League.
Brentford – 5/4
With 54 points from 27 matches Brentford is currently sitting in second place in the Championship standings with one game in hand.
The Bees have now gone 21 games unbeaten and have won eight of their last ten league games, drawing the other two (including a win against Reading and a draw against Swansea).
Brentford is certainly most bookmakers’ favourite to secure automatic promotion with their goal scoring ability and strength at the back two things that make Thomas Frank’s side a solid bet.
Norwich – 18/5
After losing 2-0 to fellow top-of-the-table team Swansea City, Norwich’s Championship lead was cut down to just one point with 55 points from 28 matches.
The Canaries have played one more match than the three teams below them which has raised some doubt in bookies minds as to whether they will be returning to the Prem, although most bookies think the chances are high.
Norwich began the season strongly but after a recent run of two draws and one loss Farke’s team will be looking to hit back in their upcoming matches against ninth place Stoke and nineteenth place Coventry.
Swansea – 9/10
Swansea’s win at home against Norwich helped them to climb to the third spot in the Championship table where they now sit with 53 points from 27 matches.
A strong goal difference of +20, as well as four wins and one draw from their last five games seems to indicate that the Swans are on track to return to the EPL under the guidance of Steve Cooper – who also took them to the playoffs last season.
Watford – 17.5/10
The Hornets are sitting comfortably in the playoff zone with 48 points from 28 matches.
Munoz’s men have only let 20 goals in this season which puts them second behind only Swansea for this stat. However, with only 31 goals scored Watford will be looking to Troy Deeny, João Pedro, Ismilla Sarr and Tom Cleverly to ramp up their finishing for the remainder of this season.
Bournemouth – 17.5/10
Bournemouth, who currently sit at sixth place on the table with 45 points from 28 matches recently rebounded from a string of four consecutive losses since beating Birmingham 3 to 2.
The recent run of bad form will have Cherries fans and betting sites alike worried as losses were given up against the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County and Luton Town.
Reading – 5/1
Reading are sitting in the fourth position in the Championship standings with 48 points and a game in hand.
After beating Bournemouth 3 to 1 and tying Swansea 0 to 0, Reading have shown that they are capable of getting results against all of the top teams.
Reading will look to continue their 7-game unbeaten run in their highly anticipated match against second place Brentford on Wednesday.
The race to the top of the Championship is a tight one but we’re also keeping an eye on the teams that are favoured to be relegated from the Premier League. Among the top contenders are Sheffield, West Brom and Fulham all of which only have two wins to their names thus far.
