Where are they now? The Wigan Athletic team that beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final

The 2012/13 season will always be amongst the most memorable seasons in Wigan Athletics’ history, with the Latics having managed to secure the FA Cup for the first time whilst also suffering relegation.

Despite the Latics being relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season, Roberto Martinez will always be fondly remembered at Wigan for the job he did in guiding the club all the way to the FA Cup final at Wembley – and their run to the final saw them knock out the likes of Huddersfield Town, Everton and Millwall.

However, Wigan were firm underdogs to actually win the competition heading into the final, following their 2-0 semi-final success against Millwall – and that was because they were taking on Manchester City who had secured their first Premier League title the season before and boasted the likes of Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Carlos Tevez and Yaya Toure in their squad.

Wigan, though, managed to nullify Manchester City brilliantly with a resilient display, and then found a moment to win the match, with Ben Watson heading home a corner to ensure that the Latics would lift the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

Here then, we take a look at the team that started that day and where they are now…
