Sheffield Wednesday are preparing to host Manchester City in the FA Cup tonight looking to spring a shock, much like when they welcomed Arsenal to Hillsborough back in October 2015 in the League Cup, triumphing 3-0.

The Owls have seen their season crumble in recent months after a woeful run of form where they have won just two games in 2020, slipping to eight points outside the play-offs and looking further and further off the pace by the week.

Their last result was a gutting 3-1 defeat at home to Derby County where they found themselves three goals down after half an hour after a string of calamities in their defensive setup, which wouldn't be the ideal way to prepare for one of the most dangerous attacking sides in Europe as Man City make the trip to Hillsborough.

Pep Guardiola's men could be on for retaining both domestic cups after their Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa at the weekend. However, they will be facing a stern Sheffield Wednesday side that have already impressed in the FA Cup this season when they turned over Brighton and Hove Albion 1-0 away from home and then defeated QPR away from home 2-1.

Their hosting of Man City will strike a lot of fear in some fans that a heavy defeat could be on the cards, however, one of their last home clashes in the cup against a Premier League big hitter was very successful as they thumped Arsenal 3-0 in the 2015/16 League Cup.

The Leeds academy product joined the Owls back in 2014 and has since earned the captain's armband, and started this game in one of his best seasons at the club, registering the assist for Wednesday's third goal.

He remains at Wednesday but is currently struggling to recapture his form and could be facing the chop from the starting XI in the coming weeks.

Up next is the Dutch centre-back Loovens who was an integral member of the side as they pushed for back-to-back play-off-pushing campaigns.

Having left the club in 2018, he currently plays for Sunderland in League One as they push for promotion back to the second tier, despite not featuring prominently.

The Czech left-back was another important member of the squad, having an impact at both ends of the pitch as he registered the assist for Ross Wallace's opener.

The holding midfielder is another player who has proven very dependable over his time at Hillsborough and in fact scored a rare goal to add the polish to a stunning performance, clamouring at the back post to bury a pass from Tom Lees.

Like Westwood, Hutchinson's future remains very uncertain at Hillsborough under Garry Monk as he's been frozen out of the squad.

The winger was a constant thorn in the Gunners' side throughout the match, smartly scoring the game's opening goal from the edge of the box, before providing the assist for Wednesday's second.
