Time are tough for The Millers at the moment and they currently find themselves sitting bottom of the Sky Bet Championship table after what can only be described as a horror start to the season.

The Millers' fans have already seen a change of manager down at the New York Stadium with Kenny Jackett taking over from Alan Stubbs, however there has been no change in results.

The club have picked up just one win all season and are desperately struggling.

So, we thought we'd take you back to a happier time, back to when The Millers won promotion to The Championship after a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory of Leyton Orient.

Remarkably, only two of the eleven that started that play-off final currently remain at the club - something that has been criticised by the fans.

This article is going to take a look at the eleven that started that historic game and where they are now.

GK - Adam Collin - Notts County

Adam CollinAdam Collind

Shot stopper Adam Collin will forever be in the hearts of all Millers fans after his heroics in the play-off final and can certainly be put down as a Millers legend.

Adam Collin stayed with the club after the play-off final victory and played a pivotal role in the club scraping survival during that first season back in the second tier.

Collin played close to 80 games for the club throughout his 3 years there and will always be regarded as a huge fans favourite.

You can now find the big man turning out for Notts County in League Two, who he signed for this summer following his release from Rotherham United.

LB - Joe Skarz - Oxford United

Joe Skarz

Mr Dependable Joe Skarz was someone who played a major role in the club's successive promotions and is again someone that the Rotherham United faithful look upon as a fans' favourite.

You could always count on the fullback to give 100% week in, week out.

Skarz left the club by mutual consent back in January 2015; a decision that was met with great shock by the fans as many expected him to be a big part of the clubs plans in The Championship.

After leaving the club, Skarz signed for Oxford United and he is currently still enjoying life with that very same club after winning promotion to League One last season.

CB - Craig Morgan - Wigan

Craig Morgan

Former Welsh international Craig Morgan appeared for The Millers over 80 times throughout his 3 years with the club and was another very solid, consistent and reliable player.

The Welshman is very strong, commanding and certainly gave the team defensive stability.

The 31-year-old currently plays for Championship side Wigan Athletic and had a terrific season last year as he captained the side to the League One title.

CB - Kari Arnason - Malmo

Icelandic international Kari Arnason made over 100 appearances for the club throughout a three year spell and while he was often criticised for being error prone during his time at the New York Stadium, the Rotherham United faithful certainly miss him now he's gone.

The 34-year-old proved he had what it takes to play amongst the world's elite during Euro 2016 as he was one of the Icelandic starters that famously dumped England out of the tournament.

Arnason currently turns out for Swedish giants Malmo FF and actually won the Allsvenskan with the club this year.

RB - James Tavernier - Rangers

James Tavernier

Newcastle loanee James Tavernier enjoyed the best loan spell of his career with Rotherham United as he made 27 impressive appearances for the club, netting 5 goals in the process.

'Tavs' scored some crucial goals for the club throughout his loan spell and was a real attacking threat for the side from his right back position.

Upon the expiry of his loan, The Millers tried with numerous attempts to sign the Bradford-born man on a permanent basis, however a deal failed to materialise.

Tavernier currently turns out for Rangers and was influential in the club's title winning campaign last year as he netted a remarkable 15 goals in 50 appearances.

LM - Ben Pringle - Preston

Ben Pringle

Rotherham legend Ben Pringle has claimed - since leaving the club - that broken promises were a big factor in his decision to further his career elsewhere and not sign a new deal with the South Yorkshire club.

Pringle spent a successful four years with the club and can only look back on his time with The Millers with fond memories.

He was influential in the club's back-to-back promotions and made almost 150 appearances for the The Millers.

The 27-year-old currently turns out for Preston North End after signing for the club this summer following an unsuccessful spell with Fulham.

CM - Richard Smallwood - Scunthorpe (loan)

Richie Smallwood is remarkably the first of only two that still remain at the club.

However Smallwood is currently temporarily away from the club as he is currently enjoying a loan spell with League One leaders Scunthorpe United but new Millers boss Kenny Jackett has made it perfectly clear that he is to explore every avenue possible to bring the tough tackling midfielder back to the New York stadium in January.

The former Middlesborough man is an experienced operator at Championship level and could be vital if The Millers are to survive this season.

CM - Lee Frecklington - Rotherham

The second and last player who still remains at the club is Lee Frecklington.

"Frecks" is actually the current Rotherham United captain and is certainly the club's talisman.

He has been at the club since 2013 and has made over 100 appearances, chipping in with a fair few goals along the way - including some very important ones.

The 31-year-old is an all-action box-to-box midfielder and is someone who can really make the team tick.

RM - Kieran Agard - MK Dons

agard

Kieran Agard played just 2 games in the Championship for The Millers before he returned back to League One and joined Bristol City.

He was extremely influential in the club gaining promotion out of the third tier and actually finished as the club's top goalscorer after netting a remarkable 26 times in 54 games.

Agard is currently again back in League One after moving to Milton Keynes Dons this summer.

ST - Alex Revell - Northampton

"Well...Ambitious but brilliant" - 4 words Rotherham fans will never forget.

Those famous words were said as Alex Revell's volley dipped over Leyton Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones and into the back of the net to level things up at 2-2.

The big man's brace in the play-off final (against his former club) will certainly have wrote him into the history books of the club forever and we can safely say that Alex Revell is regarded as nothing less than a legend by the majority of Rotherham United fans.

'Revs' spent four years at the club and made 150 appearances throughout that time and, while he was never prolific, you could always guarantee that work rate and desire would never be in question.

The 33-year-old currently turns out for League One side Northampton Town and is fast becoming an important player for The Cobblers.

ST - Wes Thomas - Oxford

Wes Thomas

Wes Thomas' stay with The Millers can certainly be regarded as short, but sweet.

Thomas signed for the club in January until the end of the season and bagged 6 goals in 16 appearances as Rotherham earned promotion to The Championship but he turned down an offer to extend his stay at the club and chose to move to Birmingham City instead.

The 29-year-old can now be found turning out for League One side Oxford United but he is out for the season with a bad injury.
