Derby County manager Frank Lampard will be encouraged by the news that his captain Curtis Davies is close to recovery following an injury that has limited the 33-year-old to only one appearance so far this season.

The question will be thought whether Davies can force his way back into a side that sit in sixth place in the Championship only two points off the leaders Leeds United.

But is Davies back in training a boost for the Rams?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

Really good news, but he will find it hard getting back into the team.

Fikayo Tomori and Richard Keogh have found form and are building a resolute partnership up in the Derby defence.

But having Davies back will up the competition and push the two starting centre-halves to perform to the best of their abilities.

That will make either improve or one will drop out for the returning Derby man who will be chomping at the bit to get back.

Alfie Burns

It’s massive news.

Derby’s form has been good so far this season, particularly when you consider that Davies has been out for so long.

When he returns, Derby will improve.

It might take some time to get him back into the starting XI, but in time, he’ll get there.

George Dagless

A huge boost.

He's a top defender and Lampard's captain so he's surely going to be straight back in the side when up to speed.

He's a real leader and will boost the Rams' play-off challenge.
